about me

I love the outdoors, gardening, and I find my inspiration in nature. I hand-build, throw, and alter functional pottery pieces inspired by the plants in my yard and those that I see while on walks and hiking. I am constantly in awe of the abundance of texture in nature.

My process is somewhat improvisational and stream of consciousness. I do sketch out ideas, but I use the sketches as a leaping point and a form of reference to start the shape of the form. Many times, while hiking, I take pictures of plants that interest me and then put them into a sketch when I am back home. Once I am working on the piece, I begin to sense what shape and texture needs to happen.
